Service Weekend 2015
Share |

Service Weekend brought out blue skies, plenty of sunshine and close to 40 dedicated workers who helped prepare Camp Nakanawa for its 96th season. Along with the familiar faces (who come back year after year) were lots of new friends who added to the merriment and to the successful completion of many projects.

Saturday was a great day for planting and weeding the flower beds, clearing trails and putting out lane markers at both docks. Inside projects included preparing the Amazon and Valkyrie ties for new campers, wood-burning, cleaning saddles and bridles and fencing foils, on and on. Thanks to Patty Lankford Akers for providing leadership for the service projects and in organizing the weekend.

Our "Gone but not Forgotten" themed Happy-am-I-Hour on Saturday night elicited visits from Wall-E Bird, Ulma and a favorite horse of old, "Camilla" from an Amazon Pagent, the "rainiest summer ever" and Aides Bunk Stunts. The chosen winners were Mitch and Scooter (Lolla Page and Carol Kleinhof) who will serve as next year's judges. An A vs. V evening entertainment followed with a version of Nakanawa Celebrity that brought out all of our drama skills. Sunday (after coffee cake!) we had a lovely church service. During the weekend the TIES Leadership Council had their annual meeting led by president Wyeth Burgess. The TLC is structured with three representatives from each decade. Please let Wyeth know if you are interested in getting involved.
